We love foals at Glenwood Vet Clinic and want to help you successfully breed your mare. A healthy pregnancy starts with a healthy uterus and we can help assess your mare’s reproductive status with an initial ultrasound (usually performed in late winter/early spring), uterine culture, or uterine biopsy.
Mares begin to cycle regularly when the days become longer and the typical cycle lasts about 21 days. The natural breeding season begins around mid-April where we can expect more regular cycling. Artificial light can be used to induce earlier cycling. Please call the office for a reproductive estimate and to book your initial ultrasound!
