We are pleased to welcome our new associate veterinarian, Dr. Sam Johnson. He will be primarily equine field service but will be seeing small animal and equine haul-in appointments on Fridays.

A Colorado native, Sam was born in Boulder and grew up in south Denver. While attending high school at Regis Jesuit, Sam spent most of his free time working at a local emergency clinic and volunteering at the Denver Dumb Friends League. Sam attended Boston College where he earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology. While at BC, he worked as a veterinary technician, completed a large animal internship at the Denver Zoo, and studied abroad on the Galapagos Islands.

Sam attended Colorado State University for veterinary school. After receiving his DVM, Sam pursued his passion for equine lameness and surgery by completing an equine internship in Florida.

When not at the clinic or on the road, you can find Sam playing softball, ice hockey, camping, flyfishing or hiking with his dog, Hazy. He is thrilled to join the GVC team and to be living in the Roaring Fork Valley. Please feel free to give Dr. Johnson a call regarding any of your animals.
